History

Here I gather step by step the history of the different Fiat types which resulted in Fiat 126 BIS...

The Informations are gathered from other sites (mainly: www.500er-fiat.de). So, the existance of this informations is not my merit. I only gathered and sorted them. Posibly, especialy if you own such a type, you will find mistakes.
Report them to me, please. Also if you own a type which isn't listed here.

  • 1899:
    Founding of "Fabbrica Italiana Automobili Torino" (Fiat).
  • 1936:
    Initiation Fiat 500 "Zero A". ("Topolino" -> "Mouse"). Length 3,2m. 566 ccm.
  • 1948:
    Runout Fiat 500 A (122.213 pieces). Initiation Fiat 500 B
  • 1949:
    Runout Fiat 500 B (21.263 pieces). Initiation Fiat 500 C und Fiat 500 C Belvedere (Combi Version with 4 seats).
  • 1955:
    Runout Fiat 500 C (376.371 pieces) (and Fiat 500 C Belvedere???).
  • 1957:
    Initiation Fiat 500 N (Nouva 500): 13 PS, no rear seats (just carpet). On demand with 16,5 PS and rear seat. Fiat 500 Sport: 21,5 PS!!!
  • 1960:
    Initiation Fiat 500 D. Der Motor vom Sport gedrosselt auf 17,5 PS. Special: Fiat 500 Giardiniera or Familiare (combi). Runout Fiat 500 N (181.078 pieces).
  • 1965:
    Runout Fiat 500 D (640.520 pieces). Initiation Fiat 500 F. More plastic parts replacing metal parts and first 500 without suicide doors.
  • 1968:
    Initiation Fiat 500 L (Lusso - Luxus). Engine like F but with alot chrome. Luxury version.
  • 1972:
    Runout Fiat 500 F and Fiat 500 L (zusammen 2.272.092 pieces). Initiation 126 in Turin. 594,5ccm Engine from 500F. 23 PS bei 4800 U/min, four gear drive, hydraulic drum brakes, tires 135-12.
  • 1973:
    Production of 126 moved to poland (under licens, FSM). Initiation Fiat 500 R (Rinnovata). 600 ccm. The last 500.
  • 1975:
    Runout Fiat 500 R (235.744 pieces).
  • 1976:
    Runout Fiat 500 Kombi (Giardiniera oder Familiare) (170.000 pieces).
    Production Fiat 500 incl. specials between 1957 and 1976: 3.702.078.
  • 1977:
    New engine for 126. 24 PS, 652ccm.
  • 1987:
    Initiation of water cooled 126 BIS. 27 PS, 700ccm. Engine from Lancia (from Y-type).
  • 1991:
    Runout 126 BIS.
  • 1992:
    Initiation Fiat Cinquecento (500).
  • 1996:
    type 126 elx: Altered bumpers and doors, G-Kat, Euro-Norm 1
  • 1998:
    Runout Fiat Cinquecento. Initiation Fiat Seicento (600)
  • 2000:
    Runout 126.
  • 2006:
    Fiat Trepiuno????
